The Second collection comprises saying of the Buddha in the from of sermons or dialogues. This type of material is called sutta or sutra

A third collection, developed later, is called abhidhamma, or abhidharma meaning "the works that go beyond the elementary teachings." It systematized the doctrine presented more or less randomly in the sutras.
