Native American Religion In Popular Culture
Avatar describes the battle by an indigenous people, the Na'vi of Pandora, against the oppression of alien humans. Native American land was being taken over by Europeans, much like the Na'vi and the American military. The Na'vi initially won; but the Native Americans lost their battle and were given reservations far from their original land to live on. The Na'vi acknowledge and revere Eywa, they view other living beings with respect and honor their place/importance on Pandora, the clans seem to intuitively believe "that all energy is just borrowed and must one day be returned," and work together to survive "in times of great sorrow". It's about basic values.
